Navigation serves 2 main functions which are Location and Information. You do not want your visitors to get lost. If they get lost, they will leave your site and go to a competitor. Also you want your visitors to find what they are looking for fast. If your customer is looking for a specific something and has spent the last 4 minutes looking for it, frustration will set in and they will look elsewhere.
